With a solid educational foundation from Fanshawe College as a Mechanical Engineering Technician specializing in Design, Matt has nurtured his career within the community that raised him—London, Ontario. His journey from a position in capital purchasing at Nemak’s Windsor Aluminum Plant to  managing the Mechanical Engineering Division at SBM reflects a trajectory marked by commitment, technical acumen, and a deep connection to his hometown. Known for his management of large-scale, multi-unit residential developments, Matt has become a pillar of reliability and innovation for the firm and its clientele. His leadership extends beyond project oversight, delving into client relations and business development, underpinning SBM's reputation for excellence and community-focused engineering solutions.

01. Tell us a bit about you

I’m a London local through and through, with my roots and education firmly planted in this community. After earning my diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technician with a Design Major from Fanshawe College, I embarked on my career journey which has now spanned 16 rewarding years. My expertise lies in leading multi-unit family projects and nurturing client relationships, ensuring our footprint in the community is not only lasting but personal. Leading the mechanical division with the support of a fantastic staff and leadership group makes the operational side of my role both fulfilling and dynamic.

02. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m an enthusiastic sports fan, both as a spectator and participant. My interest in vintage wines offers a blend of research and enjoyment, much like preserving heritage traditions. But nothing compares to the joy I find in spending quality time with my wife Elizabeth, our daughters Sofia and Gabriella, and our extended circle of family and friends.

03. What do you love most about your job?

The day-to-day challenges are what fuel my passion for my job. Be it organizational, client-related, staff-focused, or personal hurdles, navigating through them and finding successful solutions is incredibly rewarding. The true triumph, however, is in tackling these challenges as a team. Both our failures and our successes are valuable teachers, and they have been instrumental in sculpting my professional identity.
