SBM'S CORE VALUES
Strik, Baldinelli, Moniz Ltd. (SBM) was founded in 2004 as Strik, Baldinelli & Associates Ltd. (SBA) by Michael Baldinelli, M.E.Sc., P. Eng. and Aaron Strik, P.Eng. SBA's primary focus was on the structural design of small buildings, single-family residential homes, precast concrete culverts, and wood roof trusses.
In March of 2012, KAM Engineering Ltd. (KAM), a Civil Engineering sister company of SBA, was formed and led by Kevin Moniz, P.Eng. KAM Engineering Ltd. acquired Stevenson Engineering Ltd., a firm led by Robert Stevenson, P.Eng. that had been providing Civil Engineering services throughout Southern Ontario since 1993. KAM worked to expand on the established knowledge and client base of Stevenson Engineering Ltd. while working closely with SBA to diversify service offerings.
In 2014, the firms of SBA and KAM formally merged to form Strik, Baldinelli, Moniz, Ltd. (SBM) as we know it today.
In February 2017, SBM further acquired EMCAD Consulting Engineers, a firm led by David Myles, P.Eng. that had been providing Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services since 1989, to become a full-service engineering provider.
On September 1st, 2018, Michael Baldinelli, M.E.Sc., P. Eng. was suddenly and tragically lost.
Although his shoes will never be filled, we persevere to honour his legacy and uphold the vision of the company he had such a big part in forming.
Mike was a loving husband and best friend to his wife Susan, as well as a caring and loving father to his two children Patrick and Alexandra.
Mike was our President, mentor, and cherished friend - truly an extraordinary man. Our staff members and clients were like family to him, and his relationship with each and every one of them was special.
He worked tirelessly to mentor SBM staff, not only in their technical abilities but also as stewards in the community.
We continue forward to honour his legacy and make him proud of the business he helped build.
Mike, you will forever be missed and carried in our hearts.

In 2019, SBM further expanded to include Ontario Land Surveying (OLS), through the creation of SBM’s sister company SBM Geomatics Ltd. (SBMG), led by Gavin Seaman, OLS.
In that same year, SBM also increased its Civil Engineering capabilities to include Transportation Engineering.
Most recently, in 2020, SBM acquired Kirkness Consulting Inc. (KCI) Urban and Rural Planning. KCI was a small, personalized, rural, and urban land use planning firm that has been operating since 1983.
These mergers and acquisitions have all been complimentary to SBM.
Since the founding of SBA with the two original partners, the firm has grown to provide a broad range of design, planning, surveying, and engineering services, including competencies in municipal infrastructure, residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, and renovations; restoration and rehabilitation projects; and much more.

For 19+ years SBM has been a leader in the field ever since. We take pride in sharing the experience we’ve acquired with our communities.

SBM has two office locations - A head office in London Ontario, and a second office in Kitchener Ontario.
