About STRIK BALDINELLI MONIZ
SBM’s purpose is To enrich our communities by guiding building projects from concept to completion.
OUR CORE VALUES
Drive
We are committed to excellence through continuous improvement, initiative, and intelligent effort. Drive is not simply measured in hours, but in the pursuit of meaningful progress — refining how we work, challenging the status quo, and rising to meet each challenge with courage and purpose. We act with intention, learn from failure, and push boundaries in service of our team and clients.
Humility
We lead with respect, gratitude, and self-awareness. At SBM, humility means recognizing that true success is shared — no role is too small, and no individual stands above the team. We value feedback, accept accountability, and embrace learning at every stage of our careers. We strive to remain approachable, grounded, and open to perspectives beyond our own.
Balance
Balance is the foundation of sustainable success. We honour our commitments to clients and colleagues while making space for the people and passions that shape who we are outside of work. At SBM, we believe that when personal well-being and professional purpose align, we perform at our highest potential — with clarity, focus, and resilience.
Strik, Baldinelli, Moniz Ltd. (SBM) was founded in 2004 as Strik, Baldinelli & Associates Ltd. (SBA) by Michael Baldinelli, M.E.Sc., P.Eng. and Aaron Strik, P.Eng. Initially, SBA focused on structural design for small buildings, single-family homes, precast concrete culverts, and wood roof trusses.
In March 2012, KAM Engineering Ltd. (KAM), a Civil Engineering sister company of SBA, was established under the leadership of Kevin Moniz, P.Eng. KAM acquired Stevenson Engineering Ltd., a well-respected firm led by Robert Stevenson, P.Eng., which had been serving Southern Ontario with Civil Engineering expertise since 1993. This acquisition allowed KAM to expand its knowledge base and client relationships, while collaborating with SBA to diversify the range of services offered.
In 2014, the two companies—SBA and KAM—officially merged to form Strik, Baldinelli, Moniz Ltd. (SBM), as it exists today.
To further enhance our service offering, SBM acquired EMCAD Consulting Engineers in February 2017. Led by David Myles, P.Eng., EMCAD had been delivering Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services since 1989, enabling SBM to become a full-service engineering provider.

MIKE
BALDINELLI
M.E.Sc., P.Eng.
Former SBM President
Jan. 28th, 1973 - Sept. 1st, 2018
On September 1st, 2018, we tragically lost Michael Baldinelli, M.E.Sc., P.Eng.
While no one can truly fill his shoes, we remain committed to honouring his legacy and continuing the vision he worked so hard to create.
Mike was a devoted husband to his wife Susan and a loving father to his children, Patrick and Alexandra.
As our President, mentor, and cherished friend, Mike was an extraordinary individual. To him, our staff and clients were like family, and the relationships he built with each of them were unique and special. He devoted countless hours mentoring SBM staff—not just in their technical skills but also as stewards of the community.
We carry his legacy forward with the same passion and commitment he instilled in all of us, working to make him proud of the business he helped shape.
Mike, you will always be remembered and deeply missed.
In 2019, SBM expanded with the launch of SBM Geomatics Ltd. (SBMG), a sister company focused on Ontario Land Surveying (OLS) and led by Gavin Seaman, OLS. That same year, SBM also broadened its Civil Engineering capabilities to include Transportation Engineering.
In 2020, SBM further grew with the acquisition of Kirkness Consulting Inc. (KCI), a personalized urban and rural land use planning firm established in 1983.
In 2024, SBM expanded once again with the addition of
Ecology Services, enhancing our multi-disciplinary offerings to better support both the built and natural environments.
These strategic expansions have complemented SBM’s core services, which now include a wide range of design, planning, surveying, and engineering expertise—spanning municipal infrastructure, residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects, as well as restoration and rehabilitation work.
"We've been extremely fortunate to grow with our clients, staff, and community. They've put their trust in our hands, and we are here to support them."
- Kevin Moniz
